Abram Craddock Mcwane

Abram Craddock McWane died Monday, December 3, 2012, at 501 V.E.S. Road, Lynchburg, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born February 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Henry Edward McWane and Fannie Yancey Craddock McWane.

 

He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Lois Wood McWane, his sons, Abe Craddock McWane Jr., Paul Thornhill McWane, his wife, Anna Edwards McWane, his daughter, Yancey McWane Hudson, her husband, Terry Lynn Hudson, and his grandchildren, Abram Craddock McWane III (Mac), Holly Anne McWane and Katherine Farley McWane (Kate), all of Lynchburg.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Edward McWane, Jr.

 

Craddock graduated from Saint James School, Hagerstown, MD, and attended Virginia Tech. His working career began at the Lynchburg Foundry, and he retired from Bailey Spencer Hardware, Lynchburg. Craddock loved his family, friends, golf, and Smith Mountain Lake.

 

The family will receive friends at Mr. and Mrs. Paul T. McWane\"™s home from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. A memorial service will be held at St. John\"™s Episcopal Church on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 11:00 AM with Reverend William J. Watson, III officiating. The family will also receive friends at a reception following the service.
