He graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1989, and then attended the University of Virginia where he graduated in 1993 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and African Studies. After 11 months of intense traveling between their two countries, in 2005 Addison and his dog, Abbey, joined Jan in The Hague, The Netherlands. In 2006, they became registered partners.  While there, Addison achieved his Master’s degree in English and American Literature at Leiden University. Addison and Jan-Huib married on May 14, 2016, at the UVA Chapel on the grounds of Addison’s favorite place, the University of Virginia.

In addition to his parents, husband, and their beloved German shorthaired pointer, Duke, Addison is also survived by his sister, Shelby D. Hollister-Share (Kevin) of Danbury, Conn.; and his brothers, L. Stacey Dodd (Amy) of Lynchburg, Va., Jarrett S. Dodd (Claire) of Lynchburg, Va., and Jason E.
