On November 20, 2024, at approximately 10:40 A.M., Adrienne Danielle Austin serenely entered eternal rest at Centra Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 1,1978, to William and Barbara Austin of Madison Heights, Virginia.
Her paternal grandparents, William Austin, Sr., and Margaret Austin; maternal grandparents, Lawrence Ellison and Bessie Ellison; aunts, Fannie Austin, Patricia Dennis, Rebecca Hudson, Yvonne Tucker, Viola Bradley; and uncle, Norvel Slaughter preceded her in death.
At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ, joining the Diamond Hill Baptist Church. In addition, Adrienne was affiliated with Shiloh Baptist and Antioch Baptist while attending college in Salem and working in Fairfax. Adrienne was a firm believer in God. Proverbs 3: 5 -6 guided her journey of forty-six years.
Adrienne graduated from E. C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. After obtaining a degree in business administration, she worked as a senior financial consultant for Allstate Insurance in Fairfax, Virginia, for approximately six years. Later, she joined AES Energy in Arlington, Virginia, as a business process expert. While there, she was able to travel extensively, as well as work remotely. Her last earthly endeavor was serving as Gloria Witt’s assistant.
Besides her loving parents, Adrienne is survived by her foster brother, Quentin Dammones; aunt, Bernice Ellison-Johnson; aunt, Elnora Hilton; uncle, Gregory Austin (Marie) and numerous cousins.
Adrienne authored a book about her family heritage. She was very family oriented and possessed a unique connection with each family member. She was an active participant in her church, community, local government and nonprofit organizations. Whether it was being a compassionate listener, advocate for a cause, volunteer, mentor, or teacher, she started serving humankind as early as six years old.
Adrienne Danielle Austin will always be remembered as Adventurous, Diligent, Resourceful, Inspiring, Enthusiastic, Nurturing, Noble and Endearing. To the very end, she remained true to her faith (in God), true to her family and true to her friends. Her last selfless act was giving the gift of life, being an organ donor.
November’s Butterfly
Sometimes in November
When the sun is sitting high
A warm Fall breeze will steal the leaves
And cause the trees to cry
Sometimes in November
A butterfly will appear
A cherished thought, a battle fought
For one you loved so dear
Sometimes in November
An angel gets its wings
It’s good and bad but always sad
Both joy and pain this brings
Sometimes in November
A family must say goodbye
As heaven awaits to open its gates
To November’s butterfly
