Aileen Rucker of 501 VES Road, Lynchburg VA died on March 8, 2017. She was the wife of the late John Tinsley Rucker, Jr., for 70 years.
Born in Marwood, PA, June 14, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Reverend George Hoyer and the late Ottile Hoyer.
Aileen is survived by a daughter Barbara Hancock and her husband, Butch, of Raleigh NC, and their children Bryan and Jessica; a daughter Priscilla Longhine and her husband, John, of Charlotte, NC, and their children Kristin and Laura; a son James Rucker and his wife, Jacqueline, of Brewerton, NY; and a son John Tinsley Rucker, III, and his wife, Meredith, of Columbus, OH, and their children, John IV, Katheryn, and Meredith, 21 great grandchildren, and a twin sister, Mavis Arends, of Rockville, IL.
After her husband’s retirement from Occidental Petroleum Corporation in Niagara Falls, New York in 1979, she moved to Lynchburg and has been a member of Trinity Episcopal Church since then. They moved to Westminster Canterbury at the completion of the Wood’s Edge. After their years there together, Aileen remained an active member of the community.
A celebration of Aileen’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Westminster Canterbury Chapel. A reception will follow the service in the Commons.
