On Tuesday, August 31, 2021 Alan Joseph Boyance loving husband,father,grandfather, uncle and friend went into his eternal home at the age of 73.

Alan was born in Levitown New York to the late

Albert and Anna Boyance.

The family later moved to Berkeley Heights NJ Where Alan grew up. He was a Governor Livingston graduate as well as a Bethel University of McKenzie TN graduate. He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate Patricia Sullivan on March 6, 1971. They raised two children Stacia and Andrew Boyance.

He lived in Berkeley Heights until 1998, when the family relocated to Huddleston Virginia.

Alan worked for various Companies in different types of vehicle sales including Cars, Ambulances, and Mack trucks.

Alan moved to Virginia and began doing Property Damage Appraisals in the late 90’s. Alan had a true passion for this type of work.

Alan was a Lieutenant in the 107th Regiment National Guard in New York City for many years. Alan honorably retired As a captain from the New Jersey National Guard as a combat medic from Med 134th HSLD located in Sea Girt New Jersey.

Alan was also an avid train lover and loved to fish. He shared his love for trains and fishing with everyone especially his grandson’s.

Alan developed a grilling and finishing sauce named “Uncle Al’s Finishing Sauce”. He and Patricia sold their sauce at various wine and local festivals and stores throughout central and Southwest Virginia.

Alan was a loving Poppy and was very active in his grandchildren’s lives. Alan never met a stranger, he had a big heart and was a loyal and devoted friend to everyone he knew.  He was also quite a jokester and always made people laugh and have a good time.

Alan was a devout Catholic and follower of Christ.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Alan was a loving Poppy and was very active in his grandchildren’s lives. He is survived by his sister Jean Denes of West Allenhurst, NJ, children Stacia Boyance of Forest, VA and Andrew Boyance of SC, grandchildren Hanna, Christopher, and Michael Peart of Forest, VA and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Resurrection Catholic Church . A funeral service for both Alan and Patricia will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta, VA with the Rev. Nixon Negparanon officiating. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. The family requests masks be worn during the service.
