Alan Stalker

Alan Raymond Stalker, 71, of Forest, VA, died Monday, June 27, 2022.  He was the loving husband of Susan Stalker.

Alan was born August 15, 1950, in England, son of the late Harold and Winifred Stalker, where he lived until he was in his twenties. He graduated from the University of Leeds in Manchester, England. In 1975 he moved to the United States to work as an engineer for Dunlop Tire Company. He later completed his master’s degree at NC State University. He worked as a mechanical engineer in the nuclear power industry for Carolina Power & Light for 20 years, then in 2002 he was employed at Framatome where he also worked for 20 years. He started as a Principal Engineer in Nuclear Engineering, transitioned to a Project Manager, and was still employed part-time in the Installed Base Products and Engineering product line.

Back in the 1980’s Alan was an active member of the Raleigh Ski and Outing Club, where he met Susan, his wife of 26 years. They enjoyed many years of snow skiing, hiking, camping, cycling, and world traveling. Alan also was an avid cook, known for his delicious Shepherd’s Pie. He enjoyed taking his boys to cross-country races and enthusiastically cheering them on. Alan was a member of Calvary Chapel Church.

Alan is survived by his wife, sons Winston and Morgan, and his sister Ann Griffith.

A celebration of Alan’s life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford with Pastor Troy Warner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour following the service at Tharp Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Holy Land Cemetery.
