Albert Devoe Hensley

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert "Buddy" Hensley announces his death on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the age of 76 following a brave battle with Alzheimer's. He courageously fought to the end, strengthened by faith in his heavenly father, Jehovah, and the promise of a future resurrection in a paradise earth where sickness and death will no longer be \"" Revelation 21:3, 4.

Buddy was born September 2, 1936 in Dillsboro, NC to the late Lewis Bert and Fanny Arazone Hensley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Hensley and Jimmy Sutton, his sisters, Reba Welborn and Mabel Dillard, his nephew Robert Hensley, his niece Dedra Hensley and sadly, his beloved daughter, Dana Hensley.

He was well known for his strong love for family and friends, his kind, generous spirit, and his sense of humor. Above all, Buddy was known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He truly enjoyed serving his fellow brothers and sisters as an elder within the congregation, and as a minister, he zealously shared in teaching others about the Bible for many decades.

He will be remembered by Alice, his loving and beautiful wife of 52 years, his son, Timothy Hensley and wife Sherry of Mebane, NC, his daughter Colleen Irby and husband Bart of Grayson, GA, and his daughter, Julie Bible and husband Dana of Roanoke, VA. Buddy will also be remembered by his adoring and devoted grandchildren, Jacob and Leah Hensley, Sam and Laura Hensley, Jessica and Phil Brown, Alyssa and Ian DaCosta, Annie and Sophie Bible, Alan and Jessica Bible, and Beth Bible. He is also survived by his brothers, Clyde Sutton and George Hensley, his sisters Carol Clark and Jessie Blalock, and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition, Buddy is survived by many close friends, especially Sonny Phillips, Dave McGrath, and Clara Oakley.

The family would like to thank the following for their support and kind, loving care in Buddy's final days: Juanita Lewis, James Elswick, the staff at Friendship Manor Memory Care Unit, and Good Samaritan Hospice.

A memorial service will be held September 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1534 Link Road, Bedford, VA.
