Albert Frederick Southworth, Jr.

Albert Frederick Southworth Jr., of Madison Heights, VA passed peacefully on to the next life on January 12th, 2025 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was known to everyone as “Fred” or “Freddy”, born December 14th,1949 in Bronxville, NY to the late Albert F. Southworth and Jane Kelley Southworth. His family relocated to Cortland, NY in the early 1950’s where he attended Homer schools Graduating in the Homer High School class of 1967. He furthered his education in Accounting at Ithaca College class of 1971. 

Fred is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlene (Shelly) Southworth; Children, Mara (Adrian) Mitchell Groton, NY, Ryan (Jake) Southworth Moravia, NY, Jon (Emily) Tsethlikai Rustburg, VA, Chara (George) Southworth Frankfort KY, Rose (Arron & Virgil) Southworth Madison Heights, VA, and Laura Mitchell, Lynchburg, VA.; Grandchildren, Donovan, Darian, Jaiden, Emaline, Eden, Adalyn, Nathan, Uriel, and Lillith, along with many other adopted children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews over the years. His sister, Sally Roda (Bob) of Framingham, MA, a nephew, Bryan Roda (Kristin) and great niece, Paige of Swampscott, MA

Fred was a kind and loving man known for his calm and easy-going demeanor. He loved bird watching, horse racing, fishing, beer making, baking, gardening, and mostly preparing good food for his family and friends. He was a rock for those who needed support and a warm heart for all those who needed love. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. With his truest words “It's all going to be ok.”

With honor of his final wishes, no formal services will be held. The family will hold a celebration of Love in the Spring with details to follow. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation and/or The Wounded Warrior Project.
