Albert Leon Dehart
Albert Leon DeHart, 86, of Lynchburg, VA, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Sallie Baldwin DeHart for 55 years.
Born October 31, 1925 in Anawalt, WVA, Al was a son of the late John Greene DeHart, Sr. and the late Roxie Hale DeHart.
In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his children: Albert Leon DeHart, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Newport News, VA; Matthew Wade DeHart, of Mobile, Al; Lisa Gale Lindsey and her husband, Gregory, of Chievres, Belgium; Michelle Yvonne LaPenna and her husband, Michael, of Duncansville, PA; Simone Yvette Evans and her husband, Darryl, of Wake Forest, NC; and John Gerard DeHart, of Lynchburg, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two nieces.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by two brothers: John Greene DeHart, Jr., and Thomas DeHart.
Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He walked with the Lord for 36 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, or working in the yard. Al served his country proudly as a member of the US Navy during both WWII and Korea, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief. After retiring from the military Al worked 23 years for Griffin Pipe. He was a kind and generous friend to many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
