Alexander \"Alex\" Charles Ernandes, of Moneta passed away at the age of 19. He was the son of Timothy Frank Ernandes and Jo-Ann Grabinsky Ernandes.
Alex was an amazing young man that touched the lives of many people, both young and old, and he made a difference in the lives of those people. He was a member of the Junior ROTC and Drill Team at Franklin County High School and a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He was also a proud third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and he used those skills to train others in self-defense.
In addition to his loving parents, Alex leaves behind grandparents; Frank and Gisela Ernandes of Moneta, VA, and Vincent Grabinsky of Long Island, NY, two sisters; Joan Marie, and Colleen, three uncles; Kenneth Ernandes, Greg Ernandes and wife, Ingrid, and Christopher Ernandes and wife, Pam, two aunts; Helen O\"™Neil, and Elizabeth Grabinsky, numerous cousins, and scores and scores of friends. Alex has joined his uncle, Vincent Grabinsky, and his grandmother, Ann Grabinsky, in heaven.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of his deceased uncle, Vincent, to The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714, www.lustgarten.org, to further pancreatic cancer research.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, Moneta, with Father Salvador Añonuevo presiding. Interment following in Resurrection Catholic Church Cemetery. Wake and visitation at Resurrection Catholic Church, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 6:30 PM.
