Alex Ray Waldron

Alex Ray Waldron, 82 of Thaxton, passed away on January 3, 2025. He was born and raised in Thaxton, VA. He worked many years for Industrial Center in Roanoke. Alex enjoyed gardening and motorcycles. A son of the late Alex G Waldron and Rachel Waldron. In addition to his parents Alex was preceded in death by two daughters, Tina Marie and Sue Ann Waldron.

Alex is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Gaynelle Waldron; sons, Alex Waldron, Jr and Michael Waldron and his wife Melissa; daughter, Tammy Meador; eight grandchildren, Chris, Daniel (Amanda), Tiffany, Cheyenne (David), Cierra, Missy, Tina and Michael Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Kolton, Luke, Caroline, Mason and Ainsley; a special bonus son, Vincent “Bubba” Parks and sisters, Frances Wilmoth and Phyllis Johnson.

A Funeral Service and celebration of Alex’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am.
