Alfred J. Horton

Alfred Junior Horton, 80, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Tazwell, Virginia on November 9, 1941. Alfred was the loving husband of the late Peggy Ann Shrewsbury Horton. He is also preceded in death by a brother: Bobby Joe Murray and a sister: Patsy Sue Greer.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Billie Marie Morgan, daughter: Lynnette Sue Horton, her husband Charles Graham and his son, James Paul Horton; brothers: Danny Ross Murray, William Turner Murray, Jimmy Alan Murray and Jerry Wayne Murray; sisters: Sara Ann West, Debbie Jean Wacaster.

Al was most happy with his late wife, Peggy and when he was with his grandchildren, Ashlee, Chance, Tyler, Grabel, and Wyatt Horton.

He was a very loving and caring man and would go out of his way to help people.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Virginia with Rev. Shannon Harris officiating.
