Alfred Rose

Early Thursday morning, September 15, 2016 at 5:25 a.m., Alfred Rose entered into eternal rest at Lynchburg General Hospital after a long struggle with heart disease.

He was born July 17, 1945 to the late Charles Radford Rose Sr. and Alberta Jones Rose. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Alice Davis; and brother, Robert Wilbert Rose.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Jessie Marie Rose, Lynchburg, Va.; a granddaughter, Tasha Rose Meredith (Steve) and a great-grandson, Evan James Meredith, both of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Charles R. Rose Jr. (the Rev. Elynor Rose), Madison Heights, Va.; four sisters, Marian R. Booker (Carl), Madison Heights, Va., Daisy A. Rose, Lynchburg, Va., Carolyn L. Rose, Madison Heights, Va., and Joyce R. Booker (Michael), Madison Heights, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Alfred will lie in repose from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.

The family will receive visitors at the residence of Michael and Joyce Booker, 137 Brooker Lane, Madison Heights, Va. and at the home of his daughter, Jessie Rose, 3716 Otter Lane, Lynchburg, Va.

Funeral services will be held in honor of Alfred’s life at the Scott Zion Baptist Church, 2579 Galts Mill Road, Madison Heights, Va. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 4 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Cortege will assemble at the church prior to the funeral.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights, is assisting the family.
