Alfredia Charmane Johnson

d. August 8, 2017

Alfredia Charmane Johnson of Lynchburg, Virginia, peacefully left this world on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born October 14, 1954 to Ryland and Betty “Joyce” Johnson. At an early age she was baptized and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was an employee of H K Porter and then Rock Tenn Co for more than two decades; but it wasn’t until later in life that she found her calling in childcare. For nearly 14 years she welcomed children and parents into her home and cared for them all like family. “Miss Fredia” absolutely loved what she did and cherished each child that came into her life. In her spare time she enjoyed baking cakes, decorating, being outside, cooking her loved ones’ favorite meals, a strong cup of coffee, and laughing with family and friends.

Alfredia was proceeded in death by her father, Ryland D Johnson; maternal grandparents, John and Julia Banks; and paternal grandmother, Thelma Johnson.

In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Charmane Calloway; her son-in-law, Jay Calloway; and grandson, Jayson Calloway of Charlotte, NC. A brother, Ryland D Johnson, Jr and his wife Tracey Johnson from Silver Spring, MD. A devoted cousin, Joann Copeland, two devoted friends, Carolyn Woodson and Shirley Reynolds and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

A special thanks to nursing staff Christine and Katie and all the Hospice Caregivers; and to Charlena Banks for willingly sharing her time in the time of need.

A celebration of Alfredia’s life will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA.

Fredia (as we all know her) will be greatly missed. Our Earthly loss is Heaven’s gain.

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
