Alice Susie Chambers Dooley, 90, of Lynchburg, VA died Thursday morning, October 4, 2018 at Heritage Green, Lynchburg, Va. She was the beloved wife of William (Bill) Adams Dooley for 65 years. Born on Friday, November 25, 1927, Alice was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Chambers and the late Susie Pauline Flint.
Alice is survived by a son William Aubrey Dooley and his wife Gerry of Colleen, two daughters: Jane D. Gowin of Appomattox, and Betty D. Paul and her husband Bruce, of Bedford; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her sister Joan C. Beale and her husband Everett of Lynchburg, and a special nephew who watched over Alice, Lee Beale of Lynchburg and other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents Alice was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lee Dooley, a sister Rebecca C. Watson, a brother, Roberts Lee Chambers, Jr. and a son-in-law Ronald Wayne Gowin.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her pride and joy was her family. As a teen Alice played the piano for a small church in Reusens in Lynchburg until it closed. After raising her children Alice went to work for Nationwide Insurance from where she retired. She and Bill enjoyed 25 years of retirement together. She loved to laugh and get together for birthdays and most of all the holidays. Alice was a long time member of Peakland UMC.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. John N. Vest officiating.
