Alice “Dolly” Markham

Alice Margaret \"Dolly\" Armstrong Markham, 92, of Anderson, SC and formerly of Lavonia, GA, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 in NHC Healthcare, Anderson, SC. She was born October 5, 1920 in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Alice L. Medcalf Armstrong and William Armstrong.

Dolly was a member of First Baptist Church, Okeechobee, FL. She was also a retired school administrator with the Okeechobee County Public Schools in Okeechobee, FL.

In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, W. Allen Markham and a daughter, Tina Bilbrey. Dolly is survived by a son, Edward E. Bowns and his wife, Connie of Lavonia, GA; four stepchildren, Thomas A. Markham and his wife, Linda of Okeechobee, FL, Charles R. Markham and his wife, Betty Ray of Bedford, VA and Ft. Myers, FL, Martha Ann Pitts and her husband, Marshall of Okeechobee, FL, and Mary Jane Rucks and her husband, Jon of Bedford, VA; a sister, Betty A. Torrey and her husband, Don of Orange City, FL; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie G. Glass officiating. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
