Alice Jean Overstreet Stork, 79, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, March 9, 2019. She was the wife of the late Edward Leonard Stork for 51 years.
Born in Lynchburg; Jean was a daughter of the late Tommie Poindexter Overstreet and the late Floy Zimmerman Overstreet.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Anne Reynolds and husband, Maynard, of Roanoke and Betsy Lynn Fergus and husband, Scott, of Melbourne, Australia, two granddaughters, Taylor Anne Fergus and Caitlyn Paige Fergus all of Victoria, Australia; sisters, Emma Leigh Overstreet of Lynchburg and Edith O. Griffis and husband, Steve of Huddleston; and a special niece, Andrea Dawn Morris of Rustburg.
Jean graduated from Virginia Baptist School of Nursing and also attended the University of Virginia to specialize in Psychiatric Nursing. She helped initiate the first Crisis Stabilization Unit at Virginia Baptist Hospital, where she continued to work and retired after 38 years of service. Jean was a lifelong member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Bedford.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
