Allen Moorman Huddleston

April 26, 1919 — February 10, 2016

Allen Moorman Huddleston, 96, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was the last Bedford Boy having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Allen was the husband of Geraldine Gillaspie Huddleston.

Born April 26, 1919 in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Frank Minnis Huddleston and Floy Wheat Huddleston.

While serving in the army, Allen earned the Purple Heart, the American Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Allen was the owner operator of Bedford Photo Finishers and he was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, and parents, Allen is preceded in death by his sister, Rachel H. McDaniel; and three brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence Huddleston and Junior Painter.

Allen is survived by his sons, Michael Allen Huddleston and wife, Betty, Mark G. Huddleston and wife, Betsy, Jesse F. Huddleston and wife, Marsha; three grandchildren, Kristin Jenkins, Brian Huddleston, Amie Richardson; and three great-grandchildren, Holden, Mallory and Avery Jenkins.

A memorial service will be held, at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Geoff Hubbard.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Elks Home for all the love and care given to Allen while living there especially during the last five years.
