Allen Wayne Moore

Allen Wayne Moore, Sr. 76, of Rustburg died on Friday, July 29, 2011.  He was the husband of Betty Rowland Moore for 48 years.  Wayne was born in Campbell County on May 18, 1935, a son of the late Herbert Allen Moore and the late Lottie Lane Moore.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his son, Allen W. Moore, Jr. of Concord; his daughter, Sheri Moore Smith of Lynchburg; his granddaughter, Parker Elizabeth Smith and his grandson, Dallas Peyton Smith both of Lynchburg; and his brother, Larry Moore and his wife, Rhonda of Gladys.  Also, special friends Bob & Vern Martin and Buster & Mary Frazier.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Jim Moore.

Wayne was an active member of New Chapel Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for over forty years and taught the Men\"™s Sunday School Class for twenty-five years.  He was also a member of the Rustburg Ruritan Club where he held many leadership positions during his thirty years of perfect attendance at the Club, Zone and District Levels.  He served his country in the National Guard and was retired from Central Virginia Training School.  Wayne was an avid golfer and loved his Friday morning breakfasts with the R.O.M.E.O. boys.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  A memorial service will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at New Chapel Baptist Church, Rustburg with the Rev. Tim Dooley and the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating.
