Alta Mae Simpson

Alta Simpson, 78, of Gladys, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 12, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Walter Eugene Simpson Jr. Mrs. Simpson worked in banking most of her life. She ran the Leavells Branch of Union Bank and Trust in Spotsylvania, Va. for many years, and before retiring went to work with Verzion. Later she helped her son and daughter with their family business. She cherished her family and the many special friends she made during her lifetime. Alta was a lifelong Christian and loved reading her Bible daily. She was a member of Spotsylvania Assembly of God and her faith in Christ was most important to her.

In addition to her husband, Alta was proceeded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Simpson; a daughter, Terri L. Simpson; her parents, Raymond Estil Pugh and Mae Pugh; a grandson, Joshua R. Simpson; and her sister, Dorothy Cutter.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanna Lynn Pennington (Robert) of Gladys, Va. and Linda Darlene Messick (Steve) of Midland, Va.; two sons, Walter Eugene Simpson III of Spotsylvania, Va. and Curtis Allen Simpson (Pam) of Forest, Va.; grandchildren, Renee Pittman (Ray), Patrick Pennington, Thomas Pennington, Stephanie Dawson (Dustin), Stacy Fincham (Tony), Terri Simpson (Jimmy Mullins), Jerry Simpson (Fallon Richards), Jessica Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Brandon Simpson and Nicholas Simpson; one brother, Franklin Pugh (Cathy) of Baltimore, Md.; a brother-in-law, Charles Herbert Simpson of Md. and several special nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
