Amelia “Amy” Budenbender

Amelia (Amy) Budenbender died on August 29, 2013 at her home in Moneta. Franklin Carilion Hospice had been overseeing her care for the past several months. Born on February 9, 1921 in Queens, New York to the late Amelia and Joseph Farrington; she is survived by her daughters, Jane Amelia Smith of Moneta and Lee Ann O\"™Higgins of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Dennis O\"™Higgins, and her grandchildren, Tammy Edwards and Thomas O\"™Higgins of Austin, Texas.

Prior to moving to Smith Mountain Lake to live with her daughter and her daughter\"™s late husband, Richard W. Smith, she made her home in Springhill, Florida with her husband of 65 years, the late Fred Budenbender. Throughout her 92 blessed years of life, she quietly focused upon the important things: her Christian faith and her beloved family. She was a fine lady, and a loving wife and mother; she will be missed beyond measure.

A memorial service for Amelia will be conducted at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Pastor David Lord will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Those wishing to make memorial donations in lieu of flowers, please contact the American Heart Association and the Franklin Carilion Hospice.
