Amorette Padgett Hawkins, Sept. 11, 1914- March 20 2010, was born in Bedford County, Virginia, the youngest of eleven children. Amorette was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church since her childhood. She remained an active member there throughout her devoted Christian life. Amorette was awarded the Declaration of Chivalry, the highest honor one can receive in the Rebekah\"™s.
Amorette is survived by two children: Betty Hawkins Arrington and husband Larry of Forest, and a son Edward Douglas Hawkins and wife Patricia of Lynchburg. Her grandchildren are Kelly H. Skinner and husband Rick of Parkville, Missouri, Brook D. Hawkins and wife Samantha of Forest, Laura Hawkins of Overland Park, Kansas, Eric D. Hawkins and Amanda of Lynchburg, Jessica Archer, Crystal Woods , Linda and Stephanie Payne, all of Lynchburg. Her twelve adorable great grandchildren are Trey, Elizabeth, Kathryn Grace, and Olivia Skinner, Hannah, Rebekah, and Sarah Gail Hawkins, Austin Hawkins, John D. and Justin Archer, and Cloe and Saylor Woods.
Amorette was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward Marion Hawkins, her mother Mary Ann (Molly) Gordon Padgett, her father Henry Frederick (Didi) Padgett, five sisters Ruby Eva Padgett, Lizzie Padgett Tinsley, Ettie Padgett Knighton, Fannie Padgett Tinsley, and Thurley Padgett Fariss and five brothers: Gordon, Hubert, Reeves, Holcomb, and Frank Padgett.
The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doctor Tom Thomas officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family will welcome all in the Fellowship Hall of the Church following the interment at Virginia Memorial Gardens.
