Amy Lee Blankenship McIvor

Amy Lee Blankenship McIvor, 65, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on March 1, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Plunkett and Dorothy Garbee Blankenship. In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Blankenship.

Amy was born on April 28, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia and was a 1977 graduate of Jefferson Forest High School. She was a dedicated employee at Central Virginia Community College for more than 40 years.

Amy loved to travel and was happiest at the beach or near water. She was fortunate enough to have traveled to Jamaica, Paris, Amsterdam, and most recently Las Vegas. Amy was a fun loving travel companion and was always ready for an adventure. Her sarcastic wit and infectious laughter will be sorely missed.

Amy is survived by 2 cousins, Deborah (Steve) Stanton and William Garbee and family; 2 nephews, Michael and Tim Blankenship and family; one niece, Missy Davis and family; 3 goddaughters, Lauren, Adriana, and Ava, as well as numerous friends and loved ones. She was also a cherished bonus member of the Maddox/Barbour family.

Amy had a deep affection for animals and loved her fur babies Lucy, Rudy, Alex, and Graham. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to your local Humane Society or any other animal rescue organization.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, March 21,2025 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Merritt Building at Central Virginia Community College, Lynchburg, Va. Please join us as we share memories and honor Amy’s life.
