Amy Woody Melkonian, 32, died Friday, January 11, 2013. She was the wife of Chris Georges Melkonian for 8 wonderful years.
Born Saturday, June 28, 1980 in Lynchburg, VA, Amy was the daughter of Michael Gordon Woody.
In addition to her husband and father, Amy is survived by a beloved son, Jackson Melkonian, a sister, Amanda Rowles and her husband, Shane, her grandparents, L.G. Jim and Hortense Keesee Woody, three cousins: Katie, Caroline, and Lauren, a nephew, Anthony, an aunt, Dawn Temple and her husband, Jonathan, step mother Beverly Woody, step brother and step sister, Matthew and Brittany, father in-law and mother in-law, Edmond and Marie-Therese Melkonian, brother in-law, Marc and his wife Mary Ann, and sister in-law, Isabelle and her husband Christian, and a very dear friend, Jenny Shupe.
Amy lived an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding life. She was well educated, having received a Bachelor\"™s Degree in Business Management and a Master\"™s Degree in Business Administration. She was an accomplished professional, working for Nationwide Insurance, a major defense contractor, and more recently as a Department of Defense federal employee; receiving numerous awards along the way for her many contributions. Following the birth of her son, Amy chose to stay home and spend precious time loving, caring for, and raising him. She is a gift from God who touched so many lives with her love, compassion, selflessness and care, and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Amy's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Sue Keen officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park Cemetery.
