Anabel Parshall

d. September 29, 2016

Anabel Parshall, 92, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Sept. 29, 2016 after a brief illness. Anabel was born in 1924 and raised in Manhattan, N.Y. In her high school years she moved to Merrick, Long Island where she spent her summers at Jones Beach. Anabel had been a painter since she was fourteen years old and an artist since she was three years old. Anabel went to Pratt Institute in New York City where she met her late husband Richard Parshall; they were married for sixty-eight wonderful years. Prior to living in Lynchburg, Anabel and Richard lived in beautiful Bedford, Va. for nine years, in Conn. for fifty-five years and in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Anabel is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Alan and Elaine Parshall of Canada,  Glenn and Joanne Parshall of Conn., Tim and Sarah Parshall of Conn.; daughter, Jane and Larry French of  Va.; grandsons, Adam, David and his wife, Tabitha, of Canada, and Kyle of Conn.; granddaughter, Lindsay of Conn.; and great-grandchildren Addison and Reece.

In December 2015 at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, Va. Anabel held an art gallery show to display her paintings. She continued painting right up to the week of her death. Anabel was a mom first, but also worked as a Technical Perspective Artist for years. She loved to exercise and spent time at the gym almost daily. Though she spent much of her life in the country, Anabel was a city girl at heart. The museums, galleries, and libraries of New York City held a special place in her heart. Being computer literate even into her 90s, Anabel would visit New York City via Google Earth and she’d almost feel like she had been there. Over the past thirty years, she studied the genealogy of her and her husband’s family and compiled notebooks for each side of the family.
