Andrew G. “Andy” Voorhees (Givens), 20, of Lynchburg, formerly of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
He was a son of Edward and Sondra Voorhees and Karen and David Givens.
Andy was born on September 12, 1996, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School, class of 2015. Andy never met a stranger and always appreciated the simple things in life. His disability may have hindered his earthly body, but it never kept him from blessing those around him, through his vibrant personality, his constant joy, his unconditional love, and his contagious smile. All of which shined bright for others to see.
In addition to his parents, Andy is survived by his siblings, Emily Voorhees, James Voorhees, Kristen Akers (Phillip), and Ashley Cansler (Chris); his grandparents, Barb and Gerald Mortemore, Ed and Elaine Voorhees, Russell and Sandra Hooton, and Betty Givens; nephew and niece, Jacob Cansler and Leah Akers; and numerous loving family members.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bradley Haupricht, all the caregivers, the faculty and staff at E. C. Glass High School, and the members of Thomas Road Baptist Church and iKids.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Pate Chapel. A service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the iKids special needs program at Thomas Road Baptist Church or the Liberty God Parent Home.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
