Ann Bruce Tinsley Cheatwood (\"Brucie\") left this world and her suffering on Tuesday Jan. 29, 2013 and is now at peace in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Craig Tinsley and Helen Marie Smith Tinsley and by her sister-in-law Alice C. Stallard. Ann Bruce is survived by her husband of 50 wonderfully blessed years, Harry C. (Pete) Cheatwood Jr. Also surviving her is her son Bruce C. Cheatwood, his wife Catherine Gwenn and Cynthia Taylor Cheatwood, her only grandchild, all of Forest, VA. Her brother-in-law, Hugh R. Stallard of Midlothian, VA, his children Craig, Brian, & Mark Stallard and their respective families also survive her.
Ann Bruce was born on June 26th 1941 in Lynchburg, VA. She lived in Crewe, VA for the first eight years of her life. Ann Bruce moved to Lynchburg when she was eight and attended Garland Rhodes Elementary School followed by graduation from Boonsboro High School in 1959. She wanted to be a teacher all her life so she enrolled in and graduated from Lynchburg College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. Ann Bruce taught elementary school at Marvin Bass Elementary in Lynchburg until her son was born when she decided to put teaching on hold to raise him. Ann Bruce was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught pre-school after her son was old enough to attend elementary school.
Ann Bruce loved antiques and for a few years she owned and operated the \"Trash and Treasure Trunk" antique shop on Boonsboro Rd and then she opened the "Remember When" antique shop in the mini-mall at Pittman Plaza. She loved the beach, reading, her many friends, and Halloween. An avid Virginia Tech and college basketball fan, she could often be found in front of a television set during the winter months of the year. Always young at heart, as a grandmother, Brucie\"™s interests included tea parties, Barbie dolls, and reading bed-time stories to her granddaughter. During any holiday season you would find her house decorated accordingly.
The immediate family will attend an interment service for Brucie at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church next week. A celebration of her beautiful life is being planned and will be announced in these pages. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She will be deeply missed!
