Ann Mariano Woods, 79, of Lynchburg, VA passed into the loving arms of the Lord at her home on August 24, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born on January 6, 1942, to the late Constantine Mariano and Pierina Di Federico Mariano in Binghamton, NY. She attended school in Binghamton, NY, and graduated from Binghamton North High School. Ann entered into marriage to Robert Woods on April 20, 1963, in Binghamton, NY, and together they raised three children where they settled in Shohola, PA. She spent many years honing her skills as a homemaker, and will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved her for the delicious holiday cookies, cakes, pies, and other wonderful baked goods that came out of her home kitchen. Ann served as living proof of the fact that love is indeed an ingredient in any good recipe.
As the children grew, Ann worked outside the house in multiple roles for Delaware Valley School District in Pennsylvania. Eventually, she took on a role as a no-nonsense clerk at Midtown Convenience Store in Shohola, PA, from which she retired. After retirement, Ann and Bob relocated to Lynchburg, VA. She served as President of the Auxillary at American Legion Post 16 in Lynchburg and was also very active in other roles within the Post, where she developed many close friendships.
Ann was preceded in death by her siblings, Armond Mariano, Marie Carbonetta, Toni Brutvan, Gabe Mariano, and Theresa Stojek, as well as one daughter, Debra Mae Woods. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Woods, of Lynchburg, VA, son Robert Woods and wife Sharon of Wantage, NJ, son William Woods and wife Melanie of Clayton, NC, and daughter Diane Crouthamel and husband Shawn of Bechtelsville, PA. Ann is also survived by four grandchildren whom she loved with her entire heart, Michelle, Emma, Tyler, and Jocelyn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Last but not least, Ann is survived by her rescued feline furball, Missy.
Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Lynchburg, VA at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 28, followed by a service at 11:00. Interment will take place in Rounds Cemetery in Uniondale, PA at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ann’s name to, Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, a cause that was very important to her. Donations can be sent to FOAC, 1400 Edley Place, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
