Ann Olivia Hayslett Ogden, 66, of Lynchburg, VA, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  She was the wife of Thurman E. Ogden for 49 years.

Born August 8, 1947, in Lynchburg, Ann was a daughter of the late Edgar Moore Lee Hayslett and the late Elsie Olivia McConville Hayslett.

Ann was raised in the Methodist Church and was a lifelong member of Court Street United Methodist Church. She volunteered for MDA, Coached Jr. Youth Leagues @ The Plaza Bowl and she was the former President /Tournament Director for Lynchburg AJBC/YABA. Ann also worked with Campbell County 4-H canine kids club from 1976-1981.  Ann and Thurman enjoyed taking trips, especially to Tunica, MS. and Atlantic City where she could exercise her love of gambling. But above all Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister; Nancy Lee Hayslett Compton and a grandchild James Allen “Jay” Goin Jr.

In addition to her husband Thurman, she is survived by her children: Sherry L. Ogden-Hudson and husband Darrell, Kerri L. Ogden-Wright and husband William “Pete”. Grandchildren: Kaci Ann Strong, Dana Ogden-Lewis, Jessica Ogden Ramsey and Byron Eugene Ogden-Tolley. Great grandchildren: Olivia Mae & Daniel Grey Strong, Brandon Alexzander Ramsey and Emma Katherine Price and her devoted friends: Linda Rivers, Margaret Ann Adkins and Christine Laughlin.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 11 AM, Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Wayne Wade officiating.  Interment will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Tharp Funeral Home and other times at Sherry’s home.

Her family would like to acknowledge the excellent care she received from the staff of Pearson’s Cancer Treatment Center, especially Dr. Paul, as well as the Lynchburg General Hospital personnel during her final transition.
