Ann Phoebe Purdy, 93, of Lynchburg, VA, died Tuesday, January 01, 2013. She was the wife of the late William Henry Purdy.
Born Saturday, March 08, 1919 in De Pere, WI, Ann was a daughter of the late Frank Hamilton and the late Jean Shaw Hamilton..
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Ann was preceded in death by two sons: James Charles Purdy and Roger Daniel Purdy; three sisters, two brothers, and a close friend Edgar Harris.
Ann is survived by her son William Howard Purdy and his wife, Sherry, of Forest, a daughter Jane Irene Purdy, of Winston Salem, NC, four grandchildren: Leslie Santos and her husband, Thomas, Howie Purdy and his wife, Becky, Samantha Konecny and her husband, Dean, and Kathy Purdy; and 2 great grandchildren: Deven Mendoza, and Daisy Brenner, and a step great grandson, Shea Konecny.
Ann lived in northern Wisconsin for 20 years, northern Ohio for 43 years, central Virginia for 20 years, and North Carolina for 10 years. She loved camping, ice skating, and cooking. In support of her children she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, active in Parent Teacher Association, and attended as many of their activities and award ceremonies as possible.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
