Anna Rebecca Karnes

Anna Rebecca “Beck” Karnes, 88, of Roanoke passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at South Roanoke Nursing Home. She was born on August 30, 1929 in Bedford Co.. A daughter of the late Albert Cleveland Karnes and Kate Toms Karnes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Lois, Catherine, Eugene, Dean, Albert, Claude and Clyde Karnes.

Beck was a retired English teacher with Roanoke City Schools with 30 plus years. She was a very dedicated member of Colonial Baptist church in Blue Ridge. Beck also enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Beck is survived by a sister-in-law Estelle Karnes and also numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Mountcastle and his staff for their loving care and compassion for Beck throughout her many years as a patient.

A funeral service and celebration of Beck’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private at Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
