Anne Marie (Hipkens) Khouri

December 24, 1953- May 15, 2024

Anne Marie Khouri, 70, of Wirtz, passed away on May 15, 2024, at her home after a short battle with brain cancer.

Anne was the eldest daughter of the late Donald and Helene Hipkens, and she grew up in Syracuse, NY. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Durocher.

Anne graduated from Syracuse University with a BS degree in Human services and dedicated her career as a Social Worker to working with adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities in New York state and in Maryland. Anne retired from Prince George’s County, Maryland where she worked as a Service Coordinator, providing services and advocacy for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Anne recently relocated to Smith Mountain Lake with her husband, Nabil “Bill” Khouri, from Upper Marlboro, MD, upon Bill’s partial retirement. Anne enjoyed spending time with her family, swimming, working in her yard, watching sports, including the Syracuse Orangemen, and playing with her two dogs, “Syra” and “Cuse”.

Anne is survived her husband, Nabil Khouri, of Wirtz, VA, her daughter, Jenn Mealy, and her husband Daniel of Wirtz, VA; her son, Timothy Khouri and his wife, Julian of Beaverton, OR; and her beloved grandchildren, Marcus Khouri (Ally Khouri-Wife), Julius Khouri, Jaden Mealy, Emersyn Mealy and Jasmine Khouri.

Per Anne’s wishes, there will be no public memorial service held. Those who wish to honor her memory may make a charitable donation in her name to The SPCA or The Humane Society of their choice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and comfort provided to Anne and the family during her illness.
