Annice Martin Williams

June 20, 1921 — May 18, 2017

Annice Violet Williams, 95, of Forest, died Thursday, May 18, 2017.  She was the wife of the late Maurice Andrew Williams Sr. for 54 years.

Born Monday, June 20, 1921 in Appomattox County, Annice was a daughter of the late Otho Wesley Martin, Sr. and the late Lula Belle Goodman Martin.

In addition to her husband and parents, Annice was preceded in death by two brothers, Otho, Jr. and David, and four sisters, Carrie Emza, Christine, Isabelle, and Ellen.

Annice is survived by her children, Carol W. Marsh and her husband, Dave, of Richwood, WVA, Andy Williams and his wife, Susan, of Amherst, and  Kathy W. Burnley and her husband, Mike, of Concord; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister in-law, Lillian M. Martin, of Concord; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Annice was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother in-law, aunt, and friend to our family. She was a gentle, godly woman, well known and loved for her kind ways and words. So many have been truly blessed to have had her for so long. She was such an angel here, and now is there in her peaceful rest. We love you.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. (noon) until 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.  A celebration of Annice’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Dr. H.O. Tom Thomas officiating.  Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park, with food and fellowship afterwards at Bethany United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers for the loving care given to Annice over the last five years.
