Annie Mccanna Mason
Annie McCanna Mason, 96, of Lynchburg, VA, died Friday, April 15, 2011. She was the wife of the late Warren Lewis Mason for 40 years.
She was born Sunday, June 28, 1914 in Finneywood, VA. Mrs. Mason was a daughter of the late Flossie Holt McCanna and Joseph Guy McCanna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Leonard and Elba McCanna and three sisters; Nellie Gooder, Della Reese, and Connie Wood.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her son; Ronald W. Mason and his wife, Tate, of Forest, three grandchildren; Jonathan Scott Mason, of Staunton, Mary Carter Stallings and her husband, Tre, of Wilmington, NC, and Nathaniel Paul Mason, of Forest, two great grandchildren; Caroline Helen Stallings and Grace Elizabeth Stallings, both of Wilmington, NC.
Mrs. Mason was the strength of the family and a very independent woman. Learning to drive after the age of 50, she was still driving well into her 90\"™s. Not only did she take care of her family, but she also took care of her brothers and sisters. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church and a member of The Loyal Sons and Daughters Sunday School Class there.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. in Fort Hill Cemetery after the visitation, with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating.
