Annie Virginia Woody Gilmer, 91, of Huddleston, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Virginia. She was the wife of the late Robert John Gilmer, Sr.
Born January 5, 1922 in Eagle Rock, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Walton Woody and Emma Peery Woody. Annie was a member of Staunton Baptist Church in Huddleston.
Annie was also preceded in death by her sister, Edna Mae Woody.
Annie is survived by a son, Robert J. Gilmer, Jr., (Marjy) of Perrysburg, OH; a daughter, Virginia Arthur of Bedford; five grandchildren, Julie A. Kesler (Engle) of Roanoke, Jennifer A. McMullan (James) of Homewood, AL, Emily A. Stevens ( Brad) of Bedford, Robert Gilmer III (Vesela) of New York, NY, Bradley Gilmer of Seattle, WA; and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Staunton Baptist Church with the Dr. John R. Reale nd Rev. Dr. Frank J. Schmitt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6-8:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
