To family friends, and loved ones - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthony Charles Dean on April 5th, 2025. He is now home to rest in eternal Heaven.
Anthony Charles Dean was born on September 12, 1959, in Miami, Florida, to the late Johnny Dean and Aretha Mae Dean (Humphrey). He spent his early years in Miami before moving to Palatka, FL, where he became affectionately known as “Flat Top.” He attended school in Palatka and later joined the Job Corps, where he met Cheryl, who would become his wife.
In August 1979, Anthony moved to Virginia, began his married life, and started a family. He was known for his strong work ethic and exceptional masonry and plastering skills, which he proudly carried throughout his working years.
Anthony leaves behind his beloved daughters, Tasha Dean and Kendra Dean; and his cherished grandchildren: Amirah Dean, Taliyah Ware, Tori Farmer, and Shaelyn Gatling. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Johnny Dean Jr., Columbus Beckton, Wendell Dean, Geraldine Beckton, Carmensita Taylor, and Lisa Hardy. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, including Antoinette Beckton, Sabrina Arnold, Quentin Beckton, and many others.
Anthony was known in the community as “Bruh Dean,” a name that reflected his approachable spirit and the strong bonds he formed with neighbors, friends, and loved ones. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation for Mr. Dean will take place at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory in Lynchburg, located at 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502. The visitation is scheduled for April 19, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 1:00 PM.
