Anthony “Tank” Foster, Jr. 64, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was the son of the late Freda Fannon Dowdy and Anthony Foster, Sr., and the husband of Aimee A. Foster for 38 years.Anthony was born on September 10, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1978, then continued cheering on the Bees football team throughout his life. He was proudly retired, but enjoyed staying busy after retirement with family and friends.
“Tank” was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He proudly coached the Timberlake Lions and coached and umpired for Timberlake Dixie Youth Baseball for many years. He was the founder of the annual Big Gut Open golf trip. “Tank” was the life of the party, and all who knew him would agree.
In addition to his wife, Aimee A. Foster, he is survived by his sons, Robert C. Foster (Katelyn) and Michael C. Foster; sister, Ginger Overstreet (Billy), brother, Paul Dowdy (Renee), and sister Joni Card (Stewart); a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was known as the “head cousin” or the “cousin in charge” as he was the oldest and led the pack.
In addition to his parents, Anthony is predeceased by many aunts, uncles, and close friends.
A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2 PM with Dr. Rick Ewing and Rev. Mack Almond, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Campbell County Humane Society.
