Anthony “Tony” Ware, 77 of Big Island went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
He was born on February 17, 1946 in Lynchburg to the late Earl A. Ware Sr. and Christabell Routon Ware. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, George T. Ware.
Tony was a lifelong resident of Big Island where he graduated from Big Island High School. He then went on to attend Ferrum College and East Tennessee State University. He returned home and served on the Bedford County Board of Supervisors for over 25 years. In his spare time he enjoyed, cooking, magic, and trips he would take with his family and friends with his most recent trip to Ireland with his family and close friends.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty M. Ware; his only daughter, Fleming Leigh Ware and her husband and loving son in law, Dan A. Cozzi; beloved dog, Dublin Hemmingway Ware; and sister in law, Janet C. Ware; dedicated family members, Michelle Cozzi and Craig Cozzi and a host of other friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Sedalia Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lynchburg Humane Society or Sedalia Baptist Church.
