Archer Alexander Haskins

November 10, 1947 — September 15, 2014

Archer Alexander Haskins, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully September 15, 2014, at his home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Son of Alec and Catherine Haskins; he was born in Lynchburg and spent the majority of his life here after graduating from Lynchburg College and working at Lynchburg Foundry. He frequently travelled for work with various nuclear companies including ORNL, NFS, B&W, and British Nuclear Fuel Limited, where he was Vice-President of Sales. He started his own business in 1995, and consulted with nuclear companies around the world until his retirement. His favorite activities and hobbies included the study of trains, trips to Myrtle Beach, golf, college football, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Alec Haskins.

His memory will live on through his loving wife of 44 years, Virginia (Ginny) Haskins (Lynchburg) and three daughters: Ali Haskins-Lisle and husband Lee (Blacksburg), Meredith Haskins (Tuscaloosa, AL) and Kaitlyn Haskins (Sweet Briar), as well as a granddaughter, Catherine Marie Lisle (Blacksburg). He is also survived by many friends and family members who loved him, including his mother, Catherine Haskins (Forest), his “favorite” Aunt Frances Harriss (Lynchburg), his sister Molly Garbee and husband Lewis (Forest), his sister Marjorie Johnson and husband Harry (Moneta), his brother John Haskins and wife Nona (Forest) and his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at 5096 Boonsboro Road, Lynchburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Lynchburg Daily Bread or Meals on Wheels.
