Arlene Brooks Wade transitioned to heaven on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Arlene was born on December 21, 1938, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Mattie Smith Brooks and Eldridge Lee Brooks.
Arlene is survived by the love of her life, Ronald E. Wade, Sr. They have shared 60 years together. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Edith Brooks Vest and pre-deceased by three sisters and one brother: Annie Laurie Brooks, Doris Ann Fuller, Joyce Mae Scott and Earl Lee Brooks. She is also survived by three children: Ronald E. Wade, Jr., Donna Wade Reichard (Charlie England), and Mary Wade Riddle (Russell Whorton); three grandchildren: James Christopher Wade Templeton (Melissa), Trevor Michael Aaron Templeton (Brittany Fields), and Aaron Wade Hall; and one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Claire Templeton. Arlene lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, living each day with them in her heart. She has made such a positive impact on many lives and will be missed by many.
Arlene attended E. C. Glass High School. She was a tremendous genealogy buff and loved finding great pieces of information regarding her past; each nugget was a treasure in her eyes and wanted to share with everyone. She never met a stranger and met many other genealogy buffs through her Facebook page and exchanged many photos, facts and tidbits about what she found and Lynchburg.
At Arlene’s request, we will pay our final respects with a graveside service at Fort Hill Memorial Park on Monday, January 26, 2015, at 1:00 pm, the anniversary of her beloved mother’s death. We will receive family and friends at the home of her daughter, Donna Reichard, 1265 Valley Vista Lane, Forest, Virginia on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2 – 5 pm. Charitable contributions can be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
