Arlene \”Œlink\” Kirkpatrick Hackett

Arlene Kirkpatrick Hackett, 81, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010.  She was the wife of the late Junior Ray Hackett.

Arlene was born Monday, January 14, 1929 in Amherst County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kirkpatrick.  She was a member of Old Forest Road United Methodist.  She was the first female in management with Leggett Department Store as a buyer.

She is survived by her children, Judy H. Toler and husband, Wayne, of Concord, Patricia H. Henry and her husband Gary, of Lynchburg, Edwin Ray Hackett, of Chesterfield, John "Randy" Hackett, of Schertz, TX, Thomas R. Hackett and wife Kathy of Lynchburg, three brothers, Kenneth Kirkpatrick of Harpswell, ME, Clifford Kirkpatrick of Lynchburg, Thomas Kirkpatrick of Gretna, her sisters, Becky Myers of High Point, NC, Joyce Houston and Mildred Beard of Lynchburg, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Frank Casper officiating.

Arlene had a love of cooking and her kitchen was always open to friends and family.  In keeping with Arlene\"™s spirit, the family will receive friends in her daughter\"™s kitchen following the service at 1506 Liggates Road, Lynchburg, VA.
