Arlene Wood Smith

Arlene Wood Smith of Lynchburg born March 5, 1923 to Myrtle and Oscar Wood went to be with her Lord on June 10, 2012.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Glenn, Donald and Aaron Wood, and one sister Doris Holt. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Harrell Thomas Smith, daughter Deborah Peoples Augsburger of Lynchburg, son and his wife Chris and Robin Smith of Blue Ridge, her five grandchildren Tobi Rouse, Jason, and Tyler Peoples, and Nathaniel and Brandon Smith, and seven great-grandchildren: Caleb, Wyatt, Sadie, and Lydia Rouse, Aiden, Max and Maya Peoples. Arlene also leaves behind two sisters; Demris Holt and Violet Elgin and two brothers; Marion and Hoy Wood. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.

 The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday June 13, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A Celebration of Arlene\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 14, 2012 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Putt officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
