Our beloved Lynn peacefully transitioned into the arms of Jesus Saturday, October 23, 2021. She was born October 1, 1944 to the late Alfonzo and Flossie Harris Beverly. Lynn was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents Jake & Etta Greene Beverly, and maternal grandparents John & Martha McCoy Harris, brother Larry Beverly, father-in-law Francis V. Dyson, and former husband & father of Teia, Elmore P. Jordan.
At an early age, Lynn joined the family church, Fairmont Baptist of Stapleton. She was a lifelong educator, having taught in the public-school systems of Maryland, Texas, and Virginia, retiring after a long and rewarding career. Her best friend & husband, Francis “Talley” Dyson and her daughter Teia Jordan will forever cherish precious memories of their wife and mother. The other love of her life, her GrandPuppy, Shaft will forever miss his Grandma Lynn. Also surviving are brother Daryl Beverly (Wanda), mother-in-law Mary Dyson, sisters-in-law Bertha Beverly, and Romaine Washington, bonus daughters Carisa Dyson and Nicole Dyson, and bonus son Francis Dyson Jr., grandchildren Donovan Dyson, Felice Dyson, Shaevon Jones, Nyia Dyson, Ryan Dyson, Quincy Dyson, and Kennedy Dyson, an aunt Betty Cashwell (John), nieces Anita Beverly, Krystal Robertson (Cydel), Kandis Dwyer (Daniel), and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
Whether you knew her as Honey, Ma, Mrs. Dyson, Arnetha, Aunt Del, Lynn, or Lynndell, as only her Daddy could call her, she was an exceptional woman. She was a compassionate, kind, giving, and gentle soul with a beautiful spirit. She loved her family, friends, students, and God. She especially loved her Grandpuppy Shaft—her bad, bad grandpuppy. Her other pastime was watching her all-time favorite football team, Dallas Cowboys; her sole reason for living in Texas. Although our heart is aching to hear her sweet voice once more, it is also full of the lifetime of sweet memories we shall forever hold so dear.
A memorial service will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church 3150 Middletown Road Waldorf MD 20603, on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the family memorial location in her former hometown in Maryland. In compliance with CDC guidelines for COVID, mask and other PPE are required.
