Arnold Wayne Stanley

Arnold Wayne “Duck” Stanley, 78, of Forest, VA, died Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was the loving husband of Nancy Tayman Stanley of 57 years.
Arnold was born February 26, 1944, in Lynchburg, VA, a son of the late William B. Stanley and Lula J. Stanley. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to wife, he is survived by his sister Bessie Snead of Amherst, his sons Greg Stanley and wife, Stephanie of Forest, and Patrick Stanley of Phoenix Arizona; Grandchildren Taylor Boyd and husband Evan of Bedford, Jordan Stanley of Lynchburg, and Camryn Stanley of Forest; Great Granddaughter Harper Boyd of Bedford.
Wayne was a caring and gentle soul to all. He loved meeting people, and to him, a stranger was just a new friend he hadn’t made yet. His quick wit comebacks and signature laugh was loved by all that knew him. He was a very dedicated husband & father. His needs always came last for the benefit for others. Being a kid at heart, he loved being around his grandkids and especially his great granddaughter Harper. Grandpa was a title he wore most proudly.
From a drywall contractor by trade, Wayne took interest in fishing, Nascar racing, baseball, and hunting in his free time. He also enjoyed camping, especially at the beach with family and friends. Supported by his love for gardening, he loved to cook for others, especially during the holidays.
Wayne fought a valiant fight and will be missed greatly by all that were lucky to have known him. His memory will never fade or be forgotten. Rest in peace Grandpa “Duck” Wayne.
“ANDDDDD”…. A special thanks to the individuals, his “sugars”, at Bedford County Nursing Home for their great care of “Duck,”; Casey, Laurie, Judy, Michaela, Ann & Leisa, and his granddaughter Taylor “boss lady” who blessed his every day and gave him the best quality days he could expect.
The family will receive friends, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg from 7:00-8:30 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday March 4th, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Lynchburg Humane Society 1211 Old Graves Mill Rd, Lynchburg VA 24502.
