Arthur Freeman “Red†Tyler, 88, of Bedford, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Bedford County Nursing Home. He was born September 9, 1925 in Blue Ridge, VA a son of the late Herman Arthur Tyler and Irene Bell Jones Tyler.
Red attended Thaxton Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII and a retiree of N&S Railroad.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Dillman and Martha Grace Adams; and three brothers, Harold “Archie†Tyler, William “Cute†Tyler and Linwood C. Tyler. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elma June Fizer Tyler; two daughters, Charmie Ann Richardson and her husband, Patrick and Julia Elaine Hall and her husband, Larry and their sons Thomas & Phillip Hall; four sisters, Leona Jane Leonard, Nancy Louise Whittaker, Annette Bartlet and her husband, Morgan, and Helen Burnette and her husband, JT; one brother, Fred “Price†Tyler; one sister-in-law, Blanche, Opal, and Barbara Tyler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A celebration of Red’s life will be conducted at 1 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Thaxton Baptist Church with Rev. Randy C. Krantz officiating.
