Arthur H. Cokendolpher

Cokendolpher, 84, of Boones Mill, formerly of Amarillo Texas died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his residence. Born July 12, 1925 in Goodlett, Texas, a son of the late Dave Cokendolpher and Georgia Lee Tanner Cokendolpher. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Otha Brownlow, Oscar Cokendolpher, Tom Cokendolpher and Olen Cokendolpher; one sister, Oma Hawthorne.

Mr. Cokendolpher and his wife Helen lived the majority of their lives in AmarilloTexas owning and operating Cokendolpher Tax Service until retiring to Virginia to live near their son.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Helen Hyden Cokendolpher; one daughter, Linda Marlene Smith and husband Lowell D. Smith, of PA; one son, David Cokendolpher and wife, Judy of Boones Mill; five grandchildren, Jason Smith of NY, Dana Garnier and husband, Rick of PA, Bradley Cokendolpher and wife, Clare of NC, Zachry Cokendolpher and wife, Valarie of Callaway, Joshua Cokendolpher and wife, Katrina of Boones Mill; seven great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Garnier, Olivia and Ethan Cokendolpher, Caleb and Andrew Cokendopher, Calum Fader.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Boones Mill Rescue Squad, PO Box 61, Boones Mill, VA 24065.

A celebration of Arthur\"™s life will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Boones Mill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Faith Fellowship Church. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Smith Mountain Lake, 540-721-9375.
