Arthur Hoskins Hunter, 83, of Linden died Saturday August 9, 2014.
Arthur was born July 24, 1931 in Lynchburg a son of the late Theodore Hunter and the late Ruby Hunter Jones. Arthur honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart and Silver Star for Bravery in action. He was retired as a professional plumber and was a past-member of the American Legion and a member of the Moose Lodge in Front Royal.
He is survived by his children: Donna Moore of Altavista, Barry Lee Hunter and wife Brenda of West Salem, OH, Karen Wade of Lynchburg, and Brian Hunter and wife Tammy of Bedford, Peggy Little of N.C. Ten grandchildren: Christina Cunningham, Tim Cook, Stephen Hunter, Stephanie Hunter, Stacy Hunter, Stacia Hunter, Chris Wade, Yvonne Wade, Aaron Hunter, and Ryan Ferrell, eighteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings: Virginia Salisbury, Fred Hunter, David Hunter, and Ted Hunter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A service for Arthur will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 14, 2014 at the Tharp Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors performed by American Legion Post#16.
