Arthur Sheppard Sr., 80, departed this life Monday, May 21, 2018 in Lynchburg, Va. He was born March 30, 1938 to the late Reginald Sheppard Sr. and Ruth Murray in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Thornhill Sheppard and his brothers and sisters, Reginald Jr., Fitzroy, Sheila, and Eileen Sheppard and Lorna Kerr.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Arthur never met a stranger. Called “Sheppy”, “King Arthur”, or just “King” by friends and family, if you were looking for him, he could be found caring for his lawn, refinishing wood, listening to his extensive music collection, or cooking for friends and family; his curried chicken, carrot cake, and yeast rolls were particularly famous. He was also tremendously fond of laughter and was quick with a joke and was often the life of any party or family gathering.
A graduate of Progressive Educational Institute in Port of Spain, he moved to New York, NY in 1969 to work as an accounts manager for Bank of New York for nearly 20 years. After moving to Lynchburg, Va., he began his career in insurance sales with Combined Insurance Company.
