Arvid Orlin Pederson

Arvid Orlin Pederson, 71, of Thaxton passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Mahnomen, MN on January 15, 1953. A son of the late Calmer E. Pederson and Olive Martel Pederson. In addition to his parents, Arvid, was preceded in death by his twin brother, Arlin Pederson and his brother-in-law, Ron Voltz.

Arvid served his county in the United States Army for 2 years. After leaving the Army he served for 23 years in the Army Reserve where he received the Meritorious Service Metal before retiring. He was so proud of his career and would always take time to salute other veterans wherever he was and thank them for their service. Arvid loved reading, collecting clocks, going to the beach, time spent with family and long walks. He was a huge Minnesota Vikings Fan from his childhood, and he loved going to sports events. Being Humble, kind and loving were some of his best traits. He was loved by so many and will be missed in the days ahead.

Arvid is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Babe” Goff Pederson; seven children, Jason Pederson (Farren), Crystal Tovar (Ricky), Brian Pederson, Steven Pederson, Sheree Byers (Brian), Benjamin Ruff (Tiny) and Sonya Toms (John); 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavonne Voltz and Luanne Basney (Steve); brother, Ken Pederson (Pauline). Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends, especially his two best friends, Richard and Ron and his two special four legged friends Snickers and Prince.

A memorial service and celebration of Arvid’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dave Scott and Pastor David Metz officiating.
