Aubrey Clayton Wright, 87, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019,
with his beloved wife and children by his side.
Born Tuesday, August 18, 1931 in Madison Heights, Clayton was a son of the late Aubrey Earl Wright and Flora Lois Barker Wright. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Raleigh Earl Wright.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Peggy and their three children, Steven Lee Wright and his wife Bobbie of Lexington, NC, Donna Sue Wright of Madison Heights, and Rebecca Hughes and her husband, Eric of Forest. In addition to his children, he is survived by his six grandsons: Clay Wright of Blacksburg, Seth Wright of Chapel Hill, NC, Ethan Wright of Charlotte, NC, Owen Hughes of Richmond, and Tate and Reece Hughes of Forest. Clayton was also the great-grandfather to Silas, Addie and Maya.
Clayton is best known as the owner of Clayton’s Restaurant, where he and his wife, Peggy, made many great friends and memories. He was the owner/operator of the former KOA campground and travel trailer sales. Clayton also had a successful career as a brick and block salesman. He proudly served his country as a Marine during the Korean War.
Clayton’s larger than life personality will be remembered by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Clayton’s life will be follow at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
